AI Clip Generator

Turn long VODs into shareable highlight clips

AutoVOD’s Clip Generator watches (and listens to) your recordings so you do not have to. It transcribes speech, scores moments for virality, and exports polished clips straight into your library. The goal is a repeatable highlight pipeline: drop in a VOD or download, get a batch of ranked clips, then send the winners to shorts or scheduled uploads.

Manual scrubbing of a three-hour stream is slow and inconsistent. Editors miss jokes that happened off-camera audio, and streamers rarely have time to rewatch their own VODs. Clip Generator treats transcription as the source of truth, then asks an LLM to rank segments the way a chat-aware editor would — loud reactions, punchlines, and complete thoughts rather than random mid-sentence cuts.

How it works

  1. You pick one or more library files (VODs or downloads). A single request can queue up to ten files.
  2. If a matching transcription already exists in cloud storage, the job reuses it. Otherwise faster-whisper transcribes the audio, with a smaller model for very large files.
  3. Transcript chunks are ranked in parallel. Each proposed clip comes back with a 1–10 virality score that is stored on the resulting file and shown in the library.
  4. FFmpeg extracts the windows and uploads the clips next to the source, with job progress visible in the tools UI.

You can tune clip length, count, language, LLM temperature, and a custom prompt in clip-generator settings. Those defaults also apply when a live downloader finishes a recording with auto-clip enabled — that path is included with the live-recording credit charge.

What you get

  • Batch jobs on VODs and downloads
  • Configurable clip length, count, language, and LLM prompt
  • Optional auto-clip after live recordings
  • Cloud storage with thumbnails, related job history, and a virality score on each clip

Who it is for

Streamers who want daily highlights without sitting through the VOD. Editors and agencies who need a first-pass cut to review instead of starting from a blank timeline. Clips are a starting point: trim them, reframe them as shorts, or upload as-is.

How it fits the stack

Pair clips with the Shorts Creator for vertical posts, or send winners to Automation for scheduled YouTube and TikTok uploads. If the source is still a raw URL, start with the Downloader or a live downloader.

FAQ

Which files can I clip?

VODs and downloads. Clips and shorts are already cut; use the Trimmer if you only need a tighter window.

Do I need credits?

Yes for manual runs. Auto-clip after a live recording is bundled with the live-recording charge. Failed or cancelled jobs refund credits.

Can I force a re-run?

Yes. Send force if a previous job already exists for that file and you want a fresh transcription and ranking pass.
