bleedPurple

What does bleedPurple mean?

bleedPurple is Twitch's own heart: purple, and dripping. 'Bleed purple' is the company slogan for caring about the platform and the people on it. Chat posts it for TwitchCon, a charity push Twitch is in, a purple overlay, or a sincere 'I like it here.' It is not a generic heart and it is not a pride flag.

Origin

The slogan predates the emote. Twitch put the dripping heart in the global set so the phrase had a picture. You will see it next to TwitchUnity, TwitchLit, and the glitch marks. Those are brand emotes. bleedPurple is the loyalty one.

When to use bleedPurple

• TwitchCon, a Twitch anniversary, or a platform charity event
• A sincere note to a creator or a mod team
• When chat is doing a purple theme on purpose
• Not as a stand-in for a pride flag. Use the pride heart that matches.
