How to Convert a Livestream into a YouTube VOD

Twitch throws VODs out after 7 days for most people, 14 for Affiliates, 60 for Partners. YouTube does not. If you want the full stream sitting on your channel as a regular video, you have to get a file first, then upload it. AutoVOD does both.

YouTube already archives lives that started on YouTube. This is for Twitch / Kick / Rumble, or a YouTube live you want a copy of before you rewrite the title.

Get the VOD

If the streamer's channel is going to keep streaming, set a Live Downloader

1. Add the platform and username
2. Pick quality and container
3. Leave it enabled

You get a ping when they go live. When the stream ends, the recording lands in Library. Same flow as auto-recording Twitch. How many downloaders you can run depends on your subscription plan.

If the stream already happened and the VOD is still up, skip the watcher. Paste the URL into the Downloader and wait.

Upload the file to YouTube

Connect your YouTube in Settings -> Connections.

Then in Social Automation:

1. Select the file
2. Title + description
3. Privacy (private, unlisted, or public), category, tags
4. Upload now, or schedule it

Unlisted is fine if you still need chapters or a thumbnail. Flip it public when you're done poking at it.

Optional, but useful

You can ship the raw VOD as it is. A lot of people do this.
